Bernhard Ebner and lake Wolfgangsee - they simply belong together. So don’t be surprised if you see him early in the morning in the summer, shipping out onto the lake with the traditional “Traunderl”. For over fifty years, the lake has been Bernhard Ebner’s seasonal workplace. From May to October, as long as the restaurant is open, he is out almost every day, casting his nets and ensuring that there is fresh fish from lake Wolfgangsee in the Fuerberg kitchen.

There used to be over 40 fishing rights on the lake, today there are only two. Bernhard's ancestors gradually bought up the rights to ensure sustainable fishing.
Sustainable fishing in Fürberg
Only around a third of the lake's total surface area of around 450 hectares is currently fished in order to keep the sensitive ecosystem in balance. This pays off, as the crystal-clear water of Lake Wolfgang is of drinking water quality - this is regularly tested and confirmed by official bodies.

After the spawning fishing in the fall, young fish are released into the lake in the spring. Fishing stops during the winter. An eternal cycle that begins anew every year thanks to sustainable fishing and forward thinking.
